Ehssan Nazockdast

Assistant Professor

Ehssan is an assistant professor of applied physical sciences at UNC Chapel Hill. He has a BS and a MS degree in polymer engineering from Amirkabir University (Tehran, Iran). He received his PhD in Chemical Engineering from City University of New York in 2013. Afterwards, he did a postdoctoral study in Courant Institute of mathematical sciences (NYU) and Center for Computational Biology at Simons Foundation, before joining APS on July 2017. His research focuses on theoretical and computational study of soft and biological materials, including suspensions, membranes, biopolymers, and cellular matter.  His research is fundamentally interdisciplinary intersecting areas such as fluid mechanics, statistical mechanics and computational physics and it involves close collaborations with experimentalists in life and materials sciences.
